This website serves YOU. Whether you are a musicians wanting to upload music and earn some money for your creative talent or whether you are a music fan and want to listen to some independent talent.

We at Soundsurf came up with the idea for this website when musician friends of ours were looking for a channel to market their music without having to go through big labels. We were and are fans of new music, and discovered that most websites serve the music industry but not music fans or musicians, and that you need a university degree to find your way around their websites. 

As mucis fans we on our part were always happy to pay for what we got, and if we pay for songs on Itunes or if we buy a CD at Amazon why shouldn't we pay for songs of new and independent artists? In doing so, not only can we call a copy of a wonderful piece of music our own but we have also supported a new talent!

Users are able to listen to samples for free and buy songs for a small fee (currently the default is set to £0.69 per song, but the price can be set by the artist), 80% of which goes to the musician. The rest is mainly used to cover hosting costs, credit card fees etc.

Download-tables, the rating facility etc make the website competitive and gives artists potentially plenty of exposure. And instead of trusting the bosses of big music labels users can pick their own stars and create the stars of tomorrow.

Unique to Soundsurf is the category browsing. So it's not just one artist's webpage after another but one big database sorted by different styles of music, which enables users to browse according to their music tastes.
